Questions & answers

Which degree do I need?

A recognised Bachelor's degree, ideally with a final grade of 3.0 or better on the German scale. The subject depends on the programme: data science, engineering or another scientific discipline for our M.Sc. programmes, and business-related fields for the MBA and the M.A.

Do I need work experience?

Not for the Data Science M.Sc. and the Industry 4.0 M.Sc. The International MBA needs at least one year and the Digital Transformation & Sustainability M.A. at least two years of relevant work experience.

Should I choose the 12-month or the 18-month MBA?

Choose 12 months if you have 240 ECTS from your Bachelor's studies and more than two years of relevant work experience. With at least 180 ECTS and at least one year of experience, the 18-month MBA is right for you.

My final grade is below 3.0. Can I still apply?

Yes, if your grade is no lower than 4.0. Show us relevant certificates or experience, and the head of the programme may invite you to a short interview.

Which English certificates do you accept?

IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 60, Cambridge Advanced (CAE), TOEIC 605, telc English B2 or Duolingo 105. If your Bachelor's degree was taught in English, that can count as proof too.

When can I start?

You can start in January, April, July or October.

Can I study while working?

Yes. The Industry 4.0 M.Sc. and the 18-month International MBA can also be studied part-time.

Can I go abroad or do an internship?

Yes. The Industry 4.0 M.Sc. and the 18-month MBA include a mobility window: study abroad, an internship or the XU Garage start-up practicum.

How do I apply?

Apply online and upload your Bachelor's degree certificate, academic transcript, CV, English certificate, proof of work experience where required and a copy of your passport. Our admissions team reviews your application and helps with enrolment and your visa.
