Questions & answers

What do I need to apply?

A school-leaving certificate that gives you access to university, such as the German Abitur, the International Baccalaureate (24 points) or A-levels. Ideally your final grade is 3.0 or better on the German scale.

My school certificate isn't recognised in Germany. Can I still study at XU?

Yes. You can start with a preparatory course (Studienkolleg). Our admissions team checks your certificate and tells you which route fits you.

Do I need to speak German?

No. All Bachelor's programmes are taught in English, from the first lecture to your thesis. You need English at B2 level.

Which English certificates do you accept?

IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 60, Cambridge Advanced (CAE), TOEIC 605, telc English B2 or Duolingo 105. If your school education was in English, that can count as proof too.

Can I choose a specialisation?

Yes. You pick two specialisation streams from other XU programmes, for example Visual Analytics or Brand Management.

When can I start?

You can start in January, April, July or October.

How do I apply?

Apply online and upload your school-leaving certificate, transcript of grades, CV, English certificate and a copy of your passport as PDF. Our admissions team reviews your application and helps with enrolment and your visa.
